Tournament Cards from the Card Room

A scrapbook of annotated Texas Hold'em tournament cards, each one a record of an evening spent at the tables in our restaurant.

  • Every card is a physical artifact from an on-site tournament.
  • Handwritten notes capture the mood, the players, and the food.
  • No online play—everything happens at the restaurant.

A Record of the Evening

After each Texas Hold'em tournament, we take the physical card used at the table and add handwritten notes about the night—who played, what was served, and the moments that made it memorable.

Cards are actual paper or cardstock used during the tournament.

Annotations are added by the host or players.

The cards are then displayed in the restaurant and on this page.

Chips for the Table, Nothing Else

When you join a tournament, your buy-in gives you a set of chips to use at the table. There is no money, no wagering, and no prizes—just the chips and the game.

  • Buy-in is a chips-only allocation.
  • Chips are returned at the end of the evening.
  • The focus is on the social and strategic experience.

The Card Room at Chance and Cinder

Our card room is a dedicated space within the restaurant, with a long wooden table, comfortable chairs, and soft lighting. It's where the tournaments come to life, surrounded by the aroma of wood-fired cooking.

  • The table seats up to 10 players.
  • The room is decorated with framed tournament cards from past evenings.
  • A small sideboard holds extra chips and cards.

From Table to Scrapbook

After the final hand, we gather the tournament card and add handwritten notes. Players are encouraged to contribute their own comments, and we often sketch a small food item or poker symbol.

  1. The host collects the card.
  2. Players add notes about memorable hands.
  3. The card is stamped with the date and displayed.
  4. A photo is taken for the journal.

  • Handwritten note: 'All in with a pair of twos—legendary.'
  • Food pairing: chocolate fondant with vanilla ice cream.
  • Player comment: 'Best bluff I've ever seen.'
  • Date stamp: 20 June 2025.

Wood-Fired Bites for the Table

Each tournament evening features a selection of dishes from our wood-fired kitchen. From pizzas to pastas, the food is designed to be shared and enjoyed between hands.

Playing with Respect

Our tournaments are friendly and social. A few simple guidelines help everyone enjoy the evening: be patient with new players, keep the game moving, and remember that it's about the experience, not the outcome.

  • Wait for your turn to act.
  • Don't discuss your hand while it's in play.
  • Be gracious whether you win or lose.
  • Enjoy the food and conversation.
